With over 40,000 employees spread across a wide range of roles, functions, and locations, ANZ recognised a critical opportunity: to build data capability at the technical or leadership level and across the entire organisation.
To support this ambition, the ANZ partnered with PLUS UTS Business Futures to design and deliver a high-impact masterclass that would launch its company-wide ANZ Academy initiative.
The session aimed to spark curiosity, create a shared understanding of data fundamentals, and empower staff at every level to start embedding a data mindset into their day-to-day work.
The challenge
How do you make data feel relevant to everyone, regardless of role, technical skill, or location?
Rather than delivering a generic keynote or abstract talk on data strategy, the session focused on making data practical and actionable. Co-designed with the ANZ Academy team, the session struck a balance between inspiration and immediate applicability, helping participants see:
- What “data” really means in everyday terms.
- Why data matters in all roles, not just technical ones.
- How to identify data opportunities in their own workflows.
- Where to go next to build confidence and capability.
By linking real examples to individual impact, the session gave participants clear takeaways and highlighted how they could deepen their learning through the Academy’s suite of resources.
The result? A big impact at enterprise scale
Delivered virtually to 952 live participants, the session received overwhelmingly positive feedback:
- Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 67.
- 90% of attendees said they were likely to apply what they learned.
- Verbatim feedback showed people could immediately see how to implement the ideas in their work.
The collaboration between PLUS UTS Business Futures and the ANZ Academy team ensured the session was deeply aligned with internal language, needs and strategic goals while providing a fresh perspective from the outside.
This partnership demonstrated what is possible when enterprise learning is grounded in relevance, practicality, and a shared purpose.
