Learning and development takes on many different forms. People can learn from their peers, on the job or through structured learning sessions. When it comes to upskilling and re-skilling, the best form of learning is structured learning, typically in short courses.

At Plus UTS we do short courses a little different to most. While we have a range of short courses covering many subjects, how we approach learning makes us different.

We believe that for learning to be effective, it needs to be relevant, engaging and stimulating. That’s why we often work with our clients to co-design learning that suits the specific desired outcomes for an organisation.

Being a university, we have lots of expertise that sits across multiple disciplines, and we bring the most relevant experts required together from across the whole university to suit the individual needs of each and every client.

How does co-design work?

It starts with us sitting down with you to truly understand what you need. What are the outcomes you’re looking for? What specific skills do learners need to learn? How will these need to be demonstrated to you to know that your people have acquired them?

Answering these questions helps us know which subject matter experts we need to bring to the table and who we need from you to work with them.

After that, we begin with the end in mind. We work backwards from outcomes to learning design. By understanding the outcome you need, we can work out what we need to include in the learning and how best to both deliver and measure it.

What style of learning works best?

We also talk to our clients about the best and most suitable form of learning and the time your people have available to learn. We can package up learning in a format that suits you best – whether that’s online, offline or a hybrid of both.  We also talk to you about the amount of learning that’s palatable for your teams. From workshops to lunch and learn series to short courses and longer form microcredentials – that can be stacked towards further award study.

Learning designed for outcomes

Once we have that outline, our expert team of learning designers go to work building immersive, engaging learning designed to deliver demonstratable outcomes in consultation with both your and our subject matter experts.

Our focus is on ensuring you get the return on your learning investment you need in terms of skill uplift and development.
